About Kayla

With more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, NP Kayla Adebajo brings a comprehensive, prevention-minded, and patient-centered approach to hormone health, metabolic wellness, functional medicine, and whole-body health optimization. Symptoms are often the final expression of multiple biological systems that have gradually fallen out of balance. Rather than treating fatigue, hormone imbalance, chronic pain, or metabolic dysfunction as isolated problems, Kayla's philosophy is to understand how they connect — and to address the root causes together. Her care philosophy is rooted in education, individualized assessment, evidence-informed care, and a deeper understanding of the many factors that can influence long-term health.

Kayla's approach to care has been shaped by more than two decades of experience in healthcare, including work in cardiology, oncology, emergency medicine, primary care, and integrative health. Throughout her career, she saw how chronic illness, lifestyle, stress, nutrition, hormonal changes, and metabolic health can deeply affect a person's quality of life. This led her to explore a more comprehensive model of care — one that looks beyond isolated symptoms and considers the whole person. Raised with African and Caribbean influences, where natural foods, herbal traditions, and community-based wellness were deeply valued, Kayla developed an early appreciation for the connection between food, lifestyle, environment, and health. Growing up on a 60-acre organic farm also shaped her understanding of nourishment, prevention, and living in closer connection with the body and nature.

Early in her nursing career, Kayla became interested in understanding not only how disease is treated, but also how health can be supported before symptoms become more complex. This curiosity led her to study holistic nutrition, medical herbology, nutraceuticals, medical aromatherapy, bodywork, Reiki sciences, meditation, yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, and other healing traditions. While living in British Columbia, she continued expanding her knowledge in holistic and integrative health approaches, deepening her interest in nutrition, lifestyle medicine, prevention, and whole-person care. Over time, Kayla integrated this broader perspective with her medical training as a Nurse Practitioner, allowing her to support patients through a balanced approach that considers clinical assessment, lifestyle, nutrition, hormones, metabolism, stress, sleep, and long-term health goals. As a PhD candidate, Kayla's academic interests also extend into emerging fields such as systems biology and redox science — a reflection of her ongoing curiosity and commitment to lifelong learning, not a departure from evidence-informed care.

Today, Kayla’s practice focuses on helping patients better understand what may be contributing to symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, weight changes, hormonal shifts, sleep disruption, low libido, thyroid-related concerns, and age-related changes.

Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, Kayla begins with a comprehensive review of each patient’s health history, symptoms, lifestyle, goals, and relevant clinical information.

When appropriate, laboratory testing may be used to help guide care planning.

Treatment recommendations are individualized and may include lifestyle strategies, nutrition support, monitoring, education, and evidence-informed therapeutic options based on each patient’s needs and clinical suitability.
